Exploring the Interface Landscape of Noble Metals on Epitaxial Graphene

Understanding the interaction between noble metals (NMs) and epitaxial graphene is essential for design fabrication of novel devices. Within this framework, a combined experimental theoretical investigation effect vapor-deposited NM (silver [Ag] gold [Au]) nanostructures on vibrational electronic properties monolayer (MLG) 4H-SiC presented. Large sets Raman scattering data are analyzed using supervised classification statistical methods. This analysis enables identification specific fingerprints Au- Ag-decorated MLG originating from different dispersion interactions charge transfer at metal nanostructure/MLG interface. It found that spectra Au-decorated feature set allowed phonon modes similar to those in pristine MLG, whereas stronger Ag physisorption triggers an activation defect-related electron doping MLG. A principal component (PCA) linear discriminant (LDA) leveraged highlight features emanate deposition process robustly classify large-scale metal-decorated graphene. The present results can be advantageous designing highly selective sensor arrays patches decorated with metals.
